She is born and brought in Marathi Family, Her father Nandkumar Tamhankar was in the Merchant navy and her Mrunalini Tamhankar is a housewife. She made her Bollywood debut from Subhash Ghai’s Black & White Movie in 2008. She made her Marathi film debut from Sanai Choughade Opposite Subodh Bhave.
Sai gains national popularity from the movie Duniyadari and Classmates. She won Best Supporting Actress for Classmates in Maharashtra Cha Favorite Kon 2015, She also won Favorite Actress and Favorite Popular Face in Maharashtra Cha Favorite Kon 2018.
