Amitabh Bachchan is an Indian actor, producer, Playback Singer, host and former politician. He is also known as Shahenshah of Bollywood, Sadi ka Mahanayak, Angry young man and Big B. He is the winner of four National Film Awards, fifteen Filmfare Awards, Dadasaheb Phalke Award as a lifetime achievement award, it hights award in Indian cinema and many others. He also received Civilian awards from the Government of India including Padma Shri in 1984, Padma Bhushan in 2001, Padma Vibhushan in 2015 which is second-highest civilian honor. He also honors with Doctorate by the Many University Including University of Delhi, Leeds Metropolitan University in Yorkshire, UK, De Montfort University in Leicester, UK, etc. He worked in more than 200 Indian films in five decades.

Amitabh Bachchan was born as Inquilaab Srivastava, later his father changed his name as Amitabh on the suggestion of poet Sumitranandan Pant. He was born on 11th October 1942 in Allahabad. His father Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a poet and His Mother Teji Bachchan was a social activist and housewife. He has a younger brother Ajitabh Bachchan His family belongs to Babupatti Village in Pratapgarh district, Uttar Pradesh, India. He did schooling at Sherwood College boarding school in Nainital. He completed his graduation in Bachelor of Arts in Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi.

Amitabh Bachchan started his career as a freight broker in Calcutta. After doing five years of Job in this field, He moved Mumbai to pursue career in acting. He made his acting from Saat Hindustani in 1969, this movie did well in the box office. Later he has done Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Anand alongside Rajesh Khanna. this movie becomes the biggest hit and Bachchan won the first award as Best Supporting Actor in Filmfare award. After that Amitabh Bachchan gave more than 10 flop films including Parwana, Reshma Aur Shera, Bombay to Goa, etc. He received national fame and popularity from Prakash Mehra’s Zanjeer. This movie was a huge commercial hit at that time. His acting was highly appreciated by the audience and critics. He gets his new name as an “angry young man” of Bollywood. He also received the first nomination as Best Actor in Filmfare awards. Later he has given many commercial hits including Deewaar, Sholay is cult film in Indian cinema, Abhimaan, Namak Haraam, Trishul, Kaala Patthar, etc.

Amitabh Bachchan has entered politics from Allahabad for the Lok Sabha election and he won the election by highest margin. Within three years he resigns his position and quit from politics. After three years of the gap, he re-enters in Bollywood from the movie Shahenshah and this movie was commercially successful. Later he has given many flop films. Later he entered as a producer by setting Amitabh Bachchan Corporation.Ltd. But his venture did work well and he found in financial trouble. Later He again enters Bollywood from Yash Chopra’s Mohabbatein, Which is a huge Bollywood hit. He made his television debut from a television game show called Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2000. This show broke many TRP Records. He also worked as a voice-over artist in many films including Bawarchi, Lagaan, Kahaani, Krrish 3, The Ghazi Attack, etc. He also did playback singing in The Great Gambler Do Lafzon Ki song, Baghban Main Yaha Tu waha, Kahaani Ekla Chalo Re Song, Etc.

He Married to Jaya Bhaduri in 1973. They have a daughter Sweta Bachchan Nanda and a son Abhishek Bachchan. His son Abhishek Bachchan is also a Bollywood actor and married to Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai in 2007. Amitabh Bachchan has two granddaughters Navya Nanda from Sweta and Aaradhya Bachchan from Abhishek. He also has a grandson named Agastya Nanda from Sweta.
